Thread: 2010 Brownlow Medal - Team By Team Review

Have to say I'm all over Barlow at Freo. Yeah he was unknown at the start of the year but he was so far clear the BOG a few times for Freo early on that he's got to have had 15 votes in total at least. As you say Adam, ruckmen don't go so well either, so purely because of the massive value here, I'm on Barlow @ 3.05 with Sportsbet atm, huge price

    Port Adelaide Power

     PlayerOdds
    Kane Cornes$2.50
    Travis Boak$3.75
    Dom Cassisi$4.25
    Danyle Pearce$13.00
    David Rodan$16.00
    Brad Ebert$26.00

    My Phantom Brownlow Votes
    • Travis Boak (13)
    • Dom Cassisi (9)
    • Kane Cornes (9)
    • Danyle Pearce (6)

Travis Boak looks the value to me at $4.25, but it should be a close encounter. Boak finished in the top 20 of my Phantom Brownlow and his two best on ground displays in R21 and R22 will play a crucial role in deciding who wins. I also had him best on ground in their R9 clash vs Melbourne, but he wasn't a proliffic vote getter in the other matches. He ha a quiet first half and excellent second half.

Cornes is the favourite and did well, but he wasnt his brilliant self this year. I only had him best on ground in two games and i honestly believe Boak has had a better year. Cassisi could suprise too, but i only have him BOG in one game. There were three other games where i gave him the 2 votes so if he polls 3 in those games, he will come close.

    My Tip - Travis Boak

yeh boak looks the goods for port but it will be a nervous wait considering most will be relying on 2 BOGS in rd 21 and rd22.

    Hi Guys,

Love the review on this site so had to join. A few other sites giving reviews and there is certainly some consensus amongst the team leaders - Boak, Brown and Boyd are the ones I really like!

Is a toss up between the colours - Brown and Black! Brown had a great year and was a clear best on ground in three games. He stormed home being best on ground in the final two games so that may just get him over the line.

Black is a regular vote getter, even when he looks to of had a quiet year he still polls well. He is a former winner and has finished top three countless amount of times. Despite the fact i have Brown finishing higher in my Phantom Brownlow, it's definitely possible Black can win and at $3.30 he is worth a small stakes bet.

I have Black best on ground in two games and getting 1 or 2 votes in several others, plus Brown missed six matches through injury.

Tip - Simon Black at $3.30
I got this from another betting site agreeing with Brown winning as I've pasted below.

"This is short and for good reason, it is an absolute lock! Brisbane only won seven games for the year and Brown was BOG in four of them and will get votes in two others. He will poll between 13 – 15 votes and no one will come close (Luke Power smoky at 41-1) to him despite missing 6 games."

I hope your right mate, I have $10 on Barlow @ $101 to win freo' votes which I placed before Rnd 1, now thats a huge price (y)

Good luck to all punting. I took the value of Boak and Green ($6) on opening price so hopefully they salute with my anchors Watson, Thompson and Brown.

    Richmond Tigers

     PlayerOdds
    Jack Riewoldt$1.87
    Brett Deledio$3.75
    Shane Tuck$5.50
    Chris Newman$15.00
    Daniel Jackson$21.00
    Daniel Connors$26.00

    My Phantom Brownlow Votes
    • Jack Riewoldt (9)
    • Brett Deledio (8)
    • Shane Tuck (7)
    • Chris Newman (5)

Another tough one, actually one of the hardest teams so far!! Jack Riewoldt had a super season winning the Coleman Medal and i had him winning the Richmond Phantom Brownlow by 1 vote ahead of Deledio, but forwards often dont poll that well. He will obviously poll well for his 10 goal effort vs West Coast, but i dont have him polling three votes in any other games. The fatc Richmond lost alot of games will hurt his chances too.

As for Deledio, i only had him polling best on in one game (vs Brisbane). He also starred against the Crows, but im not sure he wil lget too many three vote game opportunities. He had a real quiet first half of the season when Richmond were being pumped, so he will have to rely on his second half. Tuck is another who had a good second half to the year. I thing he wil lget best on ground vs Crows and against Lions and Eagles he is a shot for three votes. But he had a relatively quiet year.

Could be any of these three, but i simply have to go for jumping Jack Riewoldt as he had some big games booting bags of goals, and won games off his own boot. You can actually get some good value about him.

    My Tip - Jack Riewoldt
