    2010 FIBA World Championships - Day 03 - August 30th 2010

The first of two short days featuring 6 games. It's always going to be a tough ask for the players to go 3 days straight, so I'm expecting some sore bodies and weaker arms to produce some low scores tonight. Lets hope our Aussies are up for the challenge here against the German team tonight. They should have been buoyed by the fact that they were within a shot of the expected top of group champs in Argentina, and if the 3 pointer had of dropped, they would have won with less than a second remaining on the clock. Tough break, but that the way it fell in the end.

    Here's todays game schedule:
    • Game 07/Group A - Jordan v Serbia
    • Game 07/Group B - Slovenia v Croatia
    • Game 08/Group B - Tunisia v Iran
    • Game 08/Group A - Australia v Germany
    • Game 09/Group B - USA v Brazil
    • Game 09/Group A - Angola v Argentina

How good was the USA-Brazil match!! Brazil had about a million chances to win it in that last 10 seconds but the ball just kept bouncing out, it was unbelievable.

Good to see Australia have another win and a monster one at that. We pushed world number 1's Argentina so close to go down by a point or so which was real dissapointing.

We just need to win 1 of our final 2 games now and it shouldn't be too difficult. Its possible we could meet the USA in the second round (again!). Wouldnt that be sensational to watch.

Was certainly the game of the day, nearly backed the Brazilians but thought it'd be a close shave. Was easy money at the line and unders, and I think that the USA may struggle to make the final the way they finished off that game... Only time will tell!

Very heartening to also see the Boomers crush someone finally too, after a couple of close calls. Should get the win that's needed, but really need the two to avoid the USA... then again, we could end up against someone like Greece, which isn't really all that better. I think they will regret that Argentina game when it comes to the next round... if they improve and play like they did last night, they could find themselves in the Quarters for sure, after that, I just don't see it at this stage.

Very true GameTipper. But having said that, of their impressive games against Argentina and Germany, they were very poor against Jordan when they were highly fancied. They just scraped over the line and had to come from behind.

If we see that Boomers side in either the next two games or in the second round, i think it will be a very quick exit.

USA deserves to be favourite, due to their quality of roster, but i too think they may not win it. Infact they could be a good lay at betfair. I fancy one of the European teams to take it out.

    Re: 2010 FIBA World Championships - Day 03 - August 30th 2010

Maybe first game jitters against Jordan? Don't know, but as I said, if the Boomers improve the further in they get into the tournament, then they should at least make it through the first knock-out stage.

A lay on USA might be a wise choice at this stage for the overall win, but I think it'll come down to Argentina and the USA in the final... that's how I judged things at the start using the predictor game on the FIBA website. However it turns out, I think the best games will come in the semi's, also a good place to lay against the favs, as in previous World Champs this is where the big upsets come. Guess we'll have to wait to see who makes it and then weigh up the odds for the back or lay.

A few games tonight may see some big overs too, and with Centrebet opening up the "pick your own line" option, some huge money can be made in my opinion. From memory, the Brazil margin for instance was paying around the $20+ mark to get within 4pts, not bad considering Brazil was given a 22pt head start at $1.90... Was probably the easiest bet of the night there!
