MelbourneNone of the sides have anything in particular to play for here, apart from the fans.
Or?
IF Cuz is cleared to have a few minutes on the field with his broken hammy, I fully expect the Tigers to whip out the last amount of energy reserves they might have to give this champ a proper sendoff. Cousins is a true legend, and I truly believe his teammates will do anything to send him off from footy with a final win, and sing a last song.
If Cousins isn't allowed on the field, I can't be sure, but if he's on the list come Sunday, I would tip Richmond by at least 30 points, probably more.
Q/Q: Tigers all the way!
Match Preview
Richmond hosts Port Adelaide at Etihad Stadium on Sunday with neither side featuring in September the match will draw to an end the career of one of the all time greats in Ben Cousin’s providing he can recover from a hamstring injury.
Richmond fought gallantly against the Saints last week going down by just 21 points. Star forward Jack Reiwoldt has almost certainly wrapped up the Coleman medal kicking seven goals while Daniel Connors and Brett Deledio were the major ball winners. The Tigers had a defining win against the Power in round 10 at AAMI Stadium and with Ben Cousins bowing out the Tigers have every reason in the book to win this game.
Port Adelaide recorded their ninth win of the season over Melbourne on the weekend getting up by 29 points with Jay Schulz staking his claim to continue with the Power kicking five goals while skipper Dominic Cassisi played a lone hand in the midfield. The win did come at a cost with forward Brett Ebert suffering a season ending knee injury. The Power has won three of the last five encounters against the Tigers however they will need to overcome the emotion of Ben Cousins should he recover from injury.
Verdict
If ever the Tigers were going to win this will be the game, after a disappointing start to the season the Tigers have bounced back to record six victories. Expect a big crowd to see of one of the greats wind up what has been a roller coaster ride; surely the Tigers won’t let him down.
My Tip – Richmond by 18 points

This game will be remembered for a long time, no doubt about it, and no matter how fit or injured Ben Cousins is, he'll be playing. It'll also be a very special moment in the young career for Jack Reiwoldt, as he should have enough goals to win the Coleman at the end of the game. Tip a bag of 5+ for the young Tiger and you'll be happy with the results! I expect the Tigers to win, and win well as they will tear up the Power and finish yet another season on a high. I'm tipping Richmond by 55pts

MelbourneI'm taking my daughter to her very first AFL game today... Hope the boys can get the win here. Slightly worried about this one now though, Jumpin Jack has the Coleman medal, Ben Cousins is going to limp out there deep in the forward line and at Etihad, I know we struggle at times. I hope the motivation is still there after a tough year... Would love for my selections above to come about as I think all Tiger fans need to see a crushing victory to go home and hibernate over the summer with... Jack to kick 6, Cousins to finish on the bench, Martin and Lids to go crazy in the center and we have 11 different goal scorers for the game. Run out 55+ winners and kick 22+ goals... I'll wake up soon I promise... Port to be held scoreless in the 3rd quarter, and the yellow and gold army turn out and fill the stadium and get to sing the song the loudest it's ever been sung before... *pinch*

MelbourneI'm not a Richmond supporter, but I have a very soft spot for the Tigers, and another soft spot for Cuz.
Going to the game as well, hoping the Tigers can send the champion off with a win.
Yellow and Black!
Damn, you guys nearly witnessed one of the great comeback wins!! Tigers down by 59 and got back to within 3 pts, then lost momentum again.
Sounds like it was a decent game.
Yeah, i listened and watched the 3rd and 4th quarters. Rex Hunt was going off his nut, he was getting really excited. In fact Richmond kicked a goal to get in front but wasn't given cause of a free kick.
I was getting really excited there for a minute to. Richmond kicked three goals in one minute there aswell. Unbelievable.
So close![]()
Trying to get it right week in, week out
