    Re: A-League 2010/11 - Week 3

As a Victory fan, im getting a little worried about our slow start this year. We face Nth Queensland this week who are in red hot form and in confidence after recording a resounding victory over Sydney FC (Victory's Grand Final opponent last year) so this will be a real test for them, particularly without Hernandez.

Be interesting to see how Melbourne Heart go this week after finally scoring a goal last week (albeit an own goal, and one of the worst own goals in history might i add). I want to see a bit more out of the big Worm who has not really set the world on fire, having come over with lots of potential.

Glory v Jets will be a low scorer im predicting. Jets have a solid defence and im thinking an Under 2.5 goal type scoreline here in this one.

    Re: A-League 2010/11 - Week 3

I wouldn't be too worried about Melb Victory just yet. I'm fairly sure Hernandez was cleared of any serious injury and may even be in contention for this weeks game... Source! It'll be a tough game, but I expect the Fury to drop off at some point, and the Melbourne crowd will be in full force again for this game which may prove to be the difference.

The Glory at home in front of a huge crowd is certainly something to be wary of, but as you've pointed out Adam, their defense has been fairly solid. Topping the table is something that the Perth side will feed on, and I could see a few chinks starting to appear and a few goals being scored. The goals may all go to the Glory, so I'm currently sitting on the fence with the Under/Over 2.5 goal myself. It should pay well that's for sure!

The Heart, as apposed to the Victory is a worry at this stage. They were very luck to get that own goal (I agree with you there Adam - Shocking!) as they seems to have got worse from their opening week game to the last one. Maybe staying away from AAMI Park will be a good thing while they try their fortunes against Adelaide, who have somewhat underachieved so far too. May we see a real goal from the Heart this week? Would make for an interesting wager that's for sure.

Sydney is also a little bit of a worry too, and draw and a loss (should have been two losses) but I'd expect them to bounce back from last weeks shocker and get stuck into Brisbane. I still haven't made my mind up about them either, I expected them to fail badly but they did well to keep Adelaide out int he first round and of course, had a bye last round. I just don't know... may start to see them drop off now...

The other game is the Phoenix and against the Mariners. This looms as a real decider and some great value may be found from this game too. You'd expect the NZ team to go in fav's here, but I wouldn't write off the Central Coast making a fist of this game. If the conditions aren't better this week, it could be well worth going the drawn result again!

Can see Adeliade getting the goods, Heart were lucky to get a draw and Adelaide most probably should have won. Adelaide to win. bit of value the draw/adelaide is good odds.

I like the Jets to upset Perth over there.. although last time they went over it was a bathing. I may be favouring the jets a little. Keeping a clean sheet will be vital, as I feel if perth score one, Kennedys head goes down and it snowballs.

Sydney should do the job in Brisbane.. maybe a 2+ goal margin for some value. If Brosque is on song they should be fine, just need to patch up their defence.

With the Victory in the search for a win, I feel that the Fury can get a goal sometime within the game, and I believe the Victory really need this win. so I'll go with the over 2.5 goals. With a small play on over 3.5

Wellington should be too strong in New Zealand. Wellington/Wellington half full double is my pick.

    Re: A-League 2010/11 - Week 3

Heya Peet15, welcome to the forum! Great insight into all 5 games there. I'm looking forward to a few results coming off this week, but the form line for each team is the worry, as good performances have not really followed through from the first to second... will be interesting to see how some of these teams look in say 5 weeks time. The A-League has certainly kicked off well this year, and the new format is sure to test some of the younger squads down the line.

Consistency is the key word this week in my mind. It would be good to see a few teams carry over last weeks form into this weeks games. Wellington is going to be the key game to watch I think, that and the Glory game. These two sides I feel are going to do well this season, and these early games are going to tell a story one way or another...

My tips will come Thurs night or Friday morning... looking at breaking my 1 game per week hoodoo! Will be happy with a 3/5 return and kicking on strongly with the *Big Plays* again!

    Re: A-League 2010/11 - Week 3

Another A-League weekend has been finalised and Week 3 saw me select 2/5 games correctly for a 40% success rate, which improved by 1 win over the previous rounds. Overall head to head selections is poor with just a 26.76% success rate. Still, it's early in the season and with plenty of work to do, I'm still very confident of getting into a positive position again.

The *Big Play* selections are still going strong and are showing a decent profit still. Went a little light this week due to early season jitters for a few sides, and myself included! Ended up dropping just $0.20 from the 3 selections that were on offer. Full results below...
