Great work Ned, this could be a bit of fun, especially if we get a few people on board.![]()
Tips for Picking Your Teams:
Goalkeepers
The best thing you can do is pick a reliable stopper who will regularly pick up clean sheets. You've got to choose two GKs so I'd go for a top player the like's of Petr Cech or Edwin van der Sar and then choose a solid mid-table performer in Thomas Sorensen or Mark Schwarzer.
Defenders
Defenders with attacking flair who score points for assists and goals as well as keeping clean sheets players like should be your priority when making selections. Players such as Glen Johnson, Leighton Baines, Ashley Cole are also really solid in defence and you should have at least one of these name's on your team. Last season's four most effective EPL's defences, according to goals conceded and clean sheets recorded, were Manchester United, Chelsea, Liverpool and Aston Villa. You will pay a premium for players from these clubs but their reliability ensures they bring the points in.
Midfielders
Some of the biggest pointscorers of recent years have been midfielders with players like Cesc Fabregas, Steven Gerrard and perennial Fantasy Premier League favourite, Frank Lampard, all putting up massive end-of-season totals. The Chelsea and England man scored a quite ludicrous 284 points last year - the highest of any player. These big names of the EPL regularly surface as the cream but at such huge prices you will struggle to afford a Fabregas to sit alongside a Lampard. Goalscoring attacking talent is the watchword here. Apart from goals and assists, eye-catching displays from the midfield often bring bonus points. Look out for a good defence behind, midfielders are also rewarded for clean sheets.
Forwards
Top strikers who score week-in, week-out are a rare breed and you won't be surprised to see last year's top two, Wayne Rooney and Didier Drogba have huge pricetags. Either man is ideal captain material due to their ability to consistently find the net to deliver strong points returns making them excellent choices as they return high scores consistently. Carlos Tevez and Robin van Persie are the other forwards in the £10m club. With three striking positions to fill, you will have to look below the elite and invest in players such as Carlton Cole, Hugo Rodallega and Kevin Doyle are all priced below £6.5m. There's bound to be some extra value in the lower ranks, you've just got to find it!
Hope this can help you all out.![]()

Hey fox...myself personally this is my job. I run a few betting/stats websites in the UK and here in Australia. It allows me to spend time watching a lot of sport, and picking plenty of winners (then losing it on silly bets I shouldn't be doing!)
Ned - what competition is this?![]()
Fox, yeah im same as Jeffers. We run a few aussie betting sites together and do that full time now. GameTipper and Ned do a bit of work with us too.
Good thing about this forum is that we have so many people into so many different kinds of sports, a big bonus for a forum.

Richmond
MelbourneFox my man! I'm in a bit of a different situation than Adam/Jeffers. I work full-time night shift, which gives me limited amount of time to prep but after many years of using the internet, as well as the amount of betting/tipping comps I do, I have a very good network of information that I can reference very quickly. I'm also very opinionated, and can just blurt out my views at a whim
Sports is my passion, so I find a way to know this stuff!
This years EPL is going to be awesome, and if you have never played EPL Fantasy via the official Premier League site, why not start now! It's super easy to use and keep track of, and you'll be surprised just how much you can learn in such a short amount of time. Don't be shy, sign-up and join the comp above. This will be my 4th year playing this fantasy game, and I'll tell you what, I've never done as well as I did in my very first year! FACT!
