Tipping Competitions - Is it just me or...

Is it just me or is there a huge push on tipping competitions this year???

Having entered tipping comps pretty much all my life, I've never seen this much of a push or hype around tipping comps... ever! Looks like Fantasy comps had a huge push over the past few years and now it's back to traditional tipping comps.

What's everyone's thoughts on this? Have you noticed an increase in public marketing or have I just been blinded by the excitement of starting new seasons in the past?!

Example: The Age's "ProTipping" comp, where the winner cleans up and also gets a $20k contract to join the tipping panel for season 2011?! Plus all the major online betting agencies now running high prize comps (which is a natural synergy for punters to then place bets and then profit more)...

Funny ya say this, i was actually saying the exact same thing to a mate the other day. No matter where ya look there are footy tipping competitions running. Now the online bookies can promote in the media, they are shoving it down peopels throats too, particularly Sportsbet and Bet247.

Ive had at least 5 invitations from people who have setup their own custom tipping competitions on that footytipping.com.au site.

Its not just footy tipping though, its the fantasy footy which is getting pushed heaps. AFL Dreamteam and Supercoach are massive these days, they have over 200,000 in each.

Yeah theres too many I reckon. I only enter a couple otherwise I get sick of it too quickly. I've done that sportsbet million dollar one, but ill probly just do them quickly without much thought...hardly any chance of winning that.

The bookies have gone a bit crazy though. Ive noticed they are all doing stuff like horse racing, nrl, premier league soccer, afl and I think I saw one even doing motorsports...its a bit too much really, will burn out.

Most years I enter around 20 for AFL + 2/3 fantasy games.
Premier League - 1xFantasy and around 15 tipping.
NRL - 15 tipping
A-League - 10 tipping
Then add in some weird ones like netball, F1, horse racing, and as many I can find for all world cups... Most are $$$ prizes but I do still like playing for glory as well.

I'm a tipping/fantasy junkie (hence the nick!)

I will certainly be entering the Super Tipping on the herald sun website. it seems the sun is doing it all nowadays with footy. they have supercoach, supertipping, youlegend etc. they are certainly leading the footy breakaway.

I like footy tipping, but its normally just the work ones that i enter, i normally go pretty well too. Went in the Sportsbet one last year and failed to win the million unfortunately.
